Credentials
Sandra Lim is a
professionally trained cybercounsellor. She is also
Toronto's first Certified Electronic Career Coach (CECC)
and Toronto's first Certified Professional Résumé
Writer (CPRW). Sandra has earned the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, demonstrating up-to-date knowledge of HR practices, and the Career
Transition Specialist certificate from Life
Strategies Ltd.’s Career Management Professional
Program. She was the winner of the 2003 Gillian
Johnston Award for Career Counselling, sponsored by
the Ontario Alliance of Career Development
Professionals.
Through her company, A
Better Impression, she provides clients with online
résumé and career counselling services to help them
create a better impression. A Better Impression's vision/mission is to provide high quality,
personalized résumé and career counselling services
to help job seekers to believe in themselves, and
empower them to discover and attain their life's
calling.

Market and Expertise
Her client base primarily
consists of employed professionals seeking to make a
job or career change. Sandra is qualified to
administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator®, Strong Interest Inventory®, and Career
Focusing® to assist clients in identifying the best
possible match between their preferences, interests,
and career opportunities. Sandra also works with
corporate clients, primarily to design entrepreneur
profiles and business résumés. She also provides
business writing/editing services, including
brochure and website editing.
Sandra's CECC credential
demonstrates her mastery of online coaching skills to
assist clients with résumé writing
and job searching over the Internet. Sandra
is recognized as a professionally trained

HR
Background and Experience
Prior to launching her
business, Sandra worked in the field of human
resources management, in both organizational and
consulting capacities — including a Big Four
consulting firm. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in
Labour-Management Relations from the University of
Toronto, completed the Post-Diploma in Human
Resources Management program at Seneca College.
Board
of Directors Roles and Pro Bono Work
Sandra serves on the
Board of Directors of the North American Association
of Asian Professionals (NAAAP) as Director of
Mentorship. In this role, Sandra researched,
developed, and rolled-out the association’s
first-ever Mentorship Program from the ground up. Her instrumental role was recognized with an international
Award of Excellence for
Professional Development for two consecutive years, and she was the recipient of the Career Professionals of Canada's 2007 Award of Excellence for "Outstanding Volunteer Contributor to the Community."
Sandra participated in
the
Volunteers for Careers initiative as a
Volunteer Career Expert, offering to provide pro bono
services for a Canadian that experienced job loss due
to the events of September 11th, 2001. She is a founding member of the Association of Online Résumé and Career Professionals, and served as 2nd Vice President and Online Career Information and Resources Expert. Sandra also served as Best Résumé
Contest Judge for the Professional Association of
Résumé Writers' 2000 Convention.
In addition, Sandra was
the Canadian Career Advisor for Going Global
from 2001-2003, writing regular articles about the
Canadian job market and providing online,
country-specific career services to international job
seekers.
Professional
Development, Publications, and Presentations
Sandra is committed to
professional development and lifelong learning and is
a member of numerous professional associations to
remain current on career trends and developments. She
regularly attends career counselling conferences, as
well as relevant workshops and professional
development events. In May 2005, Sandra was invited
to deliver a presentation at the Canadian Career
Information Association’s Conference on the topic of
e-Coaching.
She was selected to be featured in the "Directory of Professional Resume Writers: How to Find and Work with a Pro to Accelerate Your Job Search," scheduled to be released in early 2008. Sandra is also the author of
over 30 articles on HR and career-related
topics published through various media (including the
Wall Street Journal’s College Journal). Her articles
have been used by other career professionals for
conducting job search workshops. In addition, she was
interviewed and quoted in an article on barriers
Asian-Canadian women face in the workplace for the
premiere issue of Jasmine magazine, and received
credit for her contributions to the Technology
chapter of the book “Developing a Career Information
Centre.”
